FAQ
Finding a therapist can be a stressful and frustrating process. The questions below are here to help make it a little easier.
Because finding the right fit is so important to this process, I offer a free initial phone consultation prior to your first appointment.
Confidentiality–
Everything shared in my office stays in my office, unless disclosure is required by law or you provide written permission to share with certain individuals.
Parking–
There is free street parking available in both neighborhoods.
Evening Hours–
I offer evening hours as I know that’s often the only free time that people have. I’ll do my best to accommodate your availability based on my current caseload.
Cost & Insurance–
I offer therapy on a sliding scale to better meet people’s individual needs. Please check out the pricing page for the details. I do not take insurance at this time but have an NPI number if you plan to seek out-of network reimbursement.
Approach–
Counseling theories can sound like a lot of gibberish with so much jargon that it doesn’t make sense. I describe my approach as person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-focused. What this really means is that I am there for you. There is no agenda, no benchmarks, and no requirements. We’ll build a relationship as we meet and I’ll be there to help you work through whatever is holding you back.
Though my approach to therapy is eclectic, there are some guiding principals I hold as the foundation of my work. All humans deserve love, fulfillment, and respect. This is rooted in feminist, fat positive, LGBTQ+ affirming, multicultural and intersectional beliefs.
